18 December 2009 - Wangari Maathai , Kenya 's 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner, spoke at the launch of Alertnet: Climate, a new website on the humanitarian impacts of climate change funded by Com+, Danida and the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The launch event, during the international climate negotiations in Copenhagen , came during the opening session a four-day Development and Climate Days program hosted by Danida and the International Institute for Environment and Development.
The new website, which aims to take readers to the front lines of climate change, combines the news resources of Reuters with specialized reporting from the developing world and contributions from Com+ members. Aimed at journalists, policy makers, researchers, aid workers and businesspeople, it also includes extensive background briefings, links to key climate-related reports and other resources.
