COMplus is a global alliance of organisations devoted to bringing sustainable development closer to the people by expanding global outreach through effective communications and partnerships.

Diversity

Diversity is the cornerstone on which COMplus is built. Our idea is simple – to bring together a group of organisations with different approaches and business cultures, to embrace their diverse range of attributes and perspectives and unite them in a common goal of advancing sustainable development through communications.

Principles behind the work of the COMplus alliance of sustainable communicators:

• Equality  
  Equality is at the core of the alliance. With all the partners making contributions that add value to the whole. This could be financially or in terms of networking, expertise and technical resources. Crucially, the rules of engagement ensure they have equal say in the governance and management of the initiative.
  
  
• Openness and transparency
  COMplus ensures that all information about the alliance —its purpose, its membership, and how it operates — is always available to partners and the public at large.  
  
  
• Cultural sensitivity
  COMplus is aware of the diverse cultural environments it works in and strives to include every group. The joint actions by the partners therefore always take into account different regional and local cultures.

The COMplus principles outlined above inform the management of our initiatives, the structure of the organisation, the rules of engagement among partners and how the organisation responds to different situations

• Communications as a professional function
  All COMplus members recognise the critical role that effective communications plays in advancing sustainable practices – a consideration often underestimated or dismissed by management and staff in other organisations. The alliance promotes communications as a vital function that should be regarded equally with the other professions.
  
  
• Editorial independence
  COMplus respects the editorial independence of all partners, especially those involved in media, associated media outlets and/or production companies.
  
  
• Efficient and lean coordination
  The alliance has a lean, efficient coordinating team providing back-up and support to all operations.
